Cruising is one of our specialties. It was many years ago that I reluctantly immersed myself into the world of cruising. I feared forced bingo, claustrophobia and a lack of choices to pursue what I wanted to do.
How wrong I was!

Cruising is An Attractive Vacation

The first thing that I enjoyed about cruising was the fact that I was visiting several different islands on one trip. My first cruise was in French Polynesia; talk about choosing an ideal location and one that spoiled me. That cruise took me to exotic islands that I probably never would have visited if I had to fly between each of them.

Another real advantage of cruising for me was that I did not need to pack and unpack my bags everyday. That was a real bonus in itself as was the fact that I didn’t have to move the bags from one place to the next. And I never had to remember to leave out clothes and toiletries for the next day because it was not necessary to leave my luggage outside the door in the wee hours; there was no bus to load or early group start.

It wasn’t hard to figure out what to cook for dinner, but very difficult to choose between the variety of dishes offered on the menu. Cruising includes a lot of amenities, but most of all gave me freedom that I hadn’t expected. If I wanted to try a new dish at dinner, I could order it and not worry about the cost of it if I didn’t like it. I could simply order another dish or extra side if I needed to. To be honest, that never happened. I have always found so much food available on the ship that I never needed to replace a main dish. I did have to keep my girlish figure after all.

Did you know that many cruise ships offer lunch in the formal dining room on embarkation day? Usually, the masses head to the buffet for lunch; those of us looking for a bit of peace and quiet and sit-down service(especially advantageous when you have your carry-ons with you) enjoy this dining room.
